Chimborazo Volcano Day Trip with Lunch
We'll pick you up on Avenida Isidro Ayora Cueva and set off on a 4.5-hour minibus ride to Chimborazo Volcano. The trip from Guayaquil will be well worth it!
Standing 6,263 meters (20,548 feet) tall, Chimborazo is Ecuador's highest peak and easily one of its most beautiful landscapes. The volcano's snowy summit and the area's incredible wildlife have made it one of the country's most visited natural attractions.
Once we reach the first refuge, we'll start our hike up the volcano. Along the way, you'll get to see llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas up close. You'll also notice the landscape becoming drier and snowier as we gain altitude. We'll make it up to the second refuge, where you'll have time to snap photos and soak up this unique scenery.
After heading back down from Chimborazo, we'll make our way to nearby Colta Lagoon, with its picturesque Andean scenery. As we explore the area, we'll talk about the Indigenous gatherings that take place by the lagoon. Finally, we'll visit the Balbanera Church. Did you know it's the oldest Catholic church in Ecuador? You'll get to see it for yourself as you explore inside!
Next, we'll stop for a traditional lunch, where you can try Ecuadorian specialties like hornado de chancho (roast pork) and llapingachos (potato patties). Delicious!
After lunch, we'll head back to your hotel in Guayaquil.
